I know, I know, it’s always something right? However, if you’re fortunate enough to have the time to read beauty blogs, much less spend money on cosmetics, you probably have something to spare. No, no, I’m not asking for your money-although you’re more than welcome to make a contribution to Famous Footwear’s March of Dimes campaign.
It’s a lot simpler than that! Just check out the Prematurity Awareness Petition on the March of Dime’s website. It’s pretty simple stuff; the petition calls for: an increase in government funding for preemie research, an expansion of health coverage for women of childbearing age (that’s us!), better quit-smoking programs for maternity health care, voluntary assessments of premature deliveries (to make sure procedure was followed), and workplace support of maternal and infant health. Nothing too extreme, right? So, if you can spare a few seconds and agree that those are good ideas, head over and slap a signature on that sucker!
Oh, and just a little bit of info: 1 in 8 babies is born prematurely. My boyfriend was born incredibly early, and I’ve heard how countless stories of how scary a premature birth is! Whether you have kids, are planning on having them, you can probably understand the importance of the petition. And, if you’re completely disinterested in children, or just can’t stand ’em (*gasp!*), here’s where the fashion and beauty aspect comes in!
If you’re a member of Famous Footwear’s Rewards Club, or want to sign up now (it’s free), you’ll earn 150 bonus points for your card if you make a donation of $2 or more! If you’re not familiar with the rewards program, you can check it out here. Points and up fast, and the rewards are great. So basically, if you’re not too tapped out from Breast Cancer Awareness fund raising, chip in and everybody wins!
