Purple: Gem tones and royal colors are totally in for the fall! I’m thrilled, because I love the hue, and it’s so easy for anyone to work with! Clothing is a very simple way to introduce purple into your every day routine, but there are plenty of cosmetic products that will also do the trick! If you’re not feeling very bold, try a soft lavender eye shadow or a sheer lip gloss with a touch of plum. If you’re pale, just be careful that you pick the right shade so you don’t look bruised–ouch!
Black: If you’re wearing a strong hue, black is a nice way to balance out the look so you get noticed without looking like you tried to be.
Blouses: Not just for your grandmother (or for work)! Soft, feminine blouses are what’s hot, and will keep your look girly with “harder” pieces like bomber jackets and leather boots. The one pictured is a really gorgeous selection from Forever 21 that features the oh-so-popular plaid look, and also incorporates some gently ruffles, without being overbearing. The button front keeps it casual, while the wide belt cinches your waist and creates a sexy hourglass figure. The sleeves are a great length for fall, as they provide a little extra coverage but won’t cause you to overheat on those spontaneous warm days. The Fab Belted Check Shirt is available online for $12.50, and also comes in a two-tone navy combo!
Skinny Jeans: The skinny jean is alive and kicking (no pun intended). Available in styles that flatter every body shape, these jeans are everywhere! I particularly like them in black, as this makes them likely to highlight any areas you might be self conscious about. Once again, Forever 21 was my source of inspiration with their Fab Colored Skinny Jean, which retail for a ridiculously affordable $13.50. If you’re underwhelmed by basic black, the skinnies also available in grey, aqua, pink, and yellow.
Embellished Flats: I’m particularly fond of flats, as they make everything easier. I certainly enjoy a boost to my height- but I enjoy comfort more. I love all the studded styles that are currently debuting, but I felt this look called for more subdued details. The pair pictured are croco-embossed, so while they definitely have a high fab-factor, they won’t steal the show. You can check them out on Piperlime; they’re the Brenda from Very Volatile and retail for $45. Extra score? Piperlime offers free shipping and free returns!
Tote Bags: I love tote bags all year ’round, but I find them particularly useful on campus. The average tote can fit all your basics, plus a notebook and a few pens. Longer straps also make a big difference, as it’s easier to carry a few text books if you’ve got some extra room. The one in the picture is actually cut like a paper bag on top, which I thought was an adorable detail. I know you can’t see it in the picture, but you can check out the bag for yourself! It’s from Handbag Heaven–the Boston Papercut Tote and retails for $12.71! You can buy it in brown, as well. If you use use the banner below, you’ll receive 15% off your entire purchase!
Graphics: There are some amazing graphic print tees coming out right now, but I thought it would be neat to incorporate the trend through jewelry instead. The “Kaboom” necklace caught my attention immediately, just as it would if you were actually wearing it around campus! It’s from one of my favorite jewelry retailers, Girl Props, and is available for $5.99! The patterned bracelets are also available from the same site; the Circular Saw Bangle is $7.99 and the Gear Bangle will run you the same amount! As if that’s not enough, the Cat Eye Glasses with the adorable rhinestones are $6.99!
Pearls: Always chic, always classy… ‘Nough said. Yet another great deal from Girl Props: 12 pairs of pearls (obviously, they’re not real) in various sizes for only $1.99!
Secret Deodorant: Another “accessory” that never goes out of style- deodorant! This is one of those items you’re not going to want to forget, especially if you’re meeting new people and trekking all over campus with an armload of books! The scents are unlike your typical deodorant options… Secret Clear Gel is available in Cherry Mischief, Fabulously Floral, Oh-La-La Lavender (pictured), and Pretty ‘N Peach. The Invisible Solid comes in Bella Bloom, Cocoa Butter Kiss, Rockstar Rose, and Truth or Pear. It’s nice to know that if you forget perfume, Secret’s got you covered! All the scents are available at Drugstore.com for $5.49 apiece, or you can check them out at your local drug grocery store! And, if you’ve got a bit of an “issue” when it comes to sweating, check out Secret’s Clinical Strength line!
Makeup: CoverGirl’s got your back when it’s time to primp! I am addicted to black eyeliner, and think CoverGirl’s Outlast Smoothwear All Day Eyeliner in Onyx ($6.39 online) is a great addition to this outfit! For more drama and pop (and to like wide awake even when you just rolled outta bed), check out CoverGirl’s new LashBlast Length Mascara in Very Black, now on pre-sale for $7.49. To finish off the look without looking tacky, a neutral lip gloss is your best bet. I love CoverGirl Wetslicks Fruit Spritzers in Lemon Splash, which is $5.49 AND currently on BOGO at Drugstore.com!

Love the collage, and the post!! The purple computer is just too cute. And as for embellished flats, I have a pair of silver Corso Como ‘Posy’ flats that I adore. They’d look cute with that outfit, too!
