When you select your bridesmaids you’ll no doubt be choosing those nearest and dearest to you who have been there through the good times and the bad. It’s highly unlikely that you’ve selected them all because they all have the same shape and will all fit into the same dress style. The chances are all of your bridesmaids will differ in some way, whether one’s got a bigger bust or another is taller than the rest. However, you’re going to want to try and keep them all happy, making sure they feel comfortable and that they feel good on the day.
You may have selected your preowned plus size wedding dress with ease but are filled with dread when you think about finding bridesmaids’ dresses. But fear not, because we’ve got some great tips on how you can keep all of your bridesmaids happy and without compromising on the theme or style of your wedding.
Deviate from Identical Dresses
Thankfully, it’s no longer expected that all of your bridesmaids will have to wear identical dresses, which can help when it comes to finding dresses for all sorts of different body shapes and breast sizes. You could opt for ones that are the same color, but this may be difficult, so why not opt for the same color but in different shades, going from the lightest to the darkest shade in your chosen color. You’ll flatter all of your bridesmaids’ shapes while also giving a unique twist to your wedding.
The Best Shapes for Different Body Types
If one of your bridesmaids has an hourglass shape, opt for a dress that will accentuate their waist. If they’ve got great legs too, opt for a high-waisted dress that will show them off and find something that has banding to the waist to help create the most flattering shape for them.
Rounded shapes will be best suited to dresses that help to define a waist, i.e. something that tapers in at the waist and bring curves and fullness to the lower body. Or, if your bridesmaid goes straight up and down and has a more rectangular shape, a dress with a u- or v-neck or off-the-shoulder style will be ideal. Teaming this with a dress that creates a waist will help to create more curves and will bring volume to their upper body.
Sometimes, it’s the bust that can be the problem but there are dresses that will suit big or small busts. If your bridesmaid is graced with a fuller bust, a scoop neckline is perfect and will flatter their ample bosoms, creating shape for the pictures. Or, for the smaller busts, choose a halter-neck as this will accentuate their bust, attracting attention to their shoulders and arms. A lovely feminine, gorgeous look can also be created with spaghetti straps or a cowl neckline.
However, if you do want all of your bridesmaids in a uniform dress style, the sweetheart neckline is always a winner. It gives support to bigger busts and creates the illusion of larger breasts for smaller ones!
