Steve Madden has been filling my inbox, lately. Every email brings with it an inner battle: my heart says yes, but my wallet says no. Why, Steve Madden? Why???
The latest email from Mr. Madden is filled with “booties,” yet another upcoming trend. While I love the shoes in theory, I feel conflicted. First of all, since I’m no longer seven, I really don’t want to refer to anything on or around my feet as “booties.” Second, since I’m short and not particularly narrow, I feel as though shoes that cut my legs off at the ankles just aren’t going to be particularly flattering. Oh, the drama.
I think that this pair (and those similar) might be the answer, though. Because they’re slouchy, and therefore don’t tightly hug the ankle, the flow of the leg is allowed to continue.
On a side note: Damn you, Fashionable Housewife, for getting me so completely hooked on purple. I hope you’re happy!
In case you’re as in love with the picture as I am, here are the details: They’re the “Midory” from Madden (of course) and will run you $149.95-HOWEVER, they are one of the pairs that are 20% off. And, if you’re not a fan of purple, they’re also available in: Black Leather, Black Patent, Black Suede, Khaki Suede, and Pewter Metallic (my second choice).
It seems that the gladiator trend has also carried into fall… I’m not sure about how that makes me feel. I, for one, didn’t own a single pair of gladiator sandals. Flat shoes make me feel even more angst-ridden about my height, and thin strips of leather wrapped halfway up my calf does nothing to improve the appearance of my height, or weight. However, I’m not totally hatin’ the gladiator-esque heels that seem to be popping up all of a sudden. These gray “Martiny” heels from Madden are also on sale, but also $149.95-a price tag that brings epic sadness to my heart. If you’re not feeling the grey but lovin’ the cut, you can score them in black leather, instead.
Finally, the Western theme. Why, why, why??? The pair pictured on the left are the most socially acceptable pair I could find, and I seriously can’t imagine them looking even remotely okay paired with anything other than jeans.
I hate jeans. I understand that they’re comfortable, versatile, blah blah blah… But that still doesn’t make them anything more than jeans-even if you spent $200 on them. Jeans for the park, errands, a casual lunch-fine! Jeans for a night out? Unless you’re trotting over the the rodeo or a Nascar race, NO! In any case, if you’re loving the Western trend (leave my blog now kthx… kidding!), you can pick up these “Betsey” boots for $129.95-also on sale at Madden.
So, what do you think. Booties-yay or nay?
The Fashionable Housewife says
Yay for booties! I’m a huge booties fan!!
And I LOVE LOVE LOVE those purple ones. I just know I can’t chase a toddler in them!!

Hahaha, FH, I knew you would! I’ve actually become surprisingly good at running in heels… I should probably not wear them when I know there’s going to be a bus to catch! However, chasing a toddler in them could have terrible results! I’d love to take her off your hands for a day, though!!! Heh!

I too, was in a love hate relationship with booties, so i finally went out and bought a nine west, black patent leather pair. They are cute, don’t get me wrong, but they have to be the most uncomfortable things ever! Don’t plan on having any drinks while wearing these, unless you want to sport a rolled ankle for a few weeks.
Laney says
I love Nine West, Emily, but I have to agree… I seem to always hurt myself when I’m wearing some of the ridiculous styles! So not chic… I hope you find a pair this season that are more comfortable!
