In Greek, the word “meta” means “beyond” which is pretty apropos since this product works beyond better than anything I’ve ever used before. The spray carries a superfine mist, coupled with a nourishing formula featuring Panthenol and Atlas Cedar Extract it actually strengthens the hair as it works. Before you go scouring drugstores for this puppy know that this high end product carries a $25 price tag, and can only be found in select salons and online (link at the end).
So what exactly does it offer? Aside from a superior smell (always important for me) it delivers amazing hold. The light mist from the nozzle disperses the product evenly and lightly so it’s very hard to overdo it and end up with helmet hair. I personally expect a lot from hair spray, I want long-lasting hold, but I hate crunchy hair. Check out my time-line on how long this hairspray holds up in wet conditions.
*Note- I have African American hair that loves to get crazy when water is around.
8:30 a.m- it rained as I was blow-drying my hair.
9:02 a.m- my hair has been flat ironed with a slight curl at the bottom (I always lose these in the rain or anytime there’s high humidity).
9:15 a.m-I spray on my Meta Luxe Hairspray
9:31 a.m- I’m walking outside to run errands. My curls normally frizz and fall flat with 10 minutes, but so far so good.
10:45 a.m- Hair is still sleek and smooth on my way home from the first few errands.
11:30 a.m- Cleaning the house (and working up a bit of a sweat!) , no curls have loosened yet.
12:50 p.m- Showered and starting on cooking lunch in a warm kitchen. The curls stayed tight after a shower!!
1:20 p.m- Lunch is over hair is still smooth and my style hasn’t fallen flat but the curls are starting to slightly loosen.
2:23 p.m- Heading back out for another errand, no rain but the air is a bit humid. Curls still intact.
3:52 p.m- Starting to see a bit of frizz.
5:30 p.m- My curls have officially fallen, so i touch-up with a curling iron before dinner, and re-apply a light mist of hairspray.
7:20 p.m- The new curls are holding up well through dinner and dancing.
10:45 p.m- The curls are still fresh from the touch-up and it’s time for bed.
All in all, the spray held up well considering I shower and they still didn’t fall. Yes, I had to touch them up before dinner but by bedtime the look hadn’t fallen apart, which surprised me. I think this product delivers excellent results for problem hair like mine. I think hair of fine to medium thickness will find this product works even better with their hair, no touch-up needed!
