I had the opportunity to do a Q & A with Beth Heitker a mark rep check it out below!

Beth:

What department where you interning in last Summer? Communication and Education (Sales)

What was your favorite part of being a mark intern last Summer? My favorite part about interning with mark is that I get to work so closely with strong and independent women.  I feel so fortunate to come to work and hear their stories about things they have accomplished and their hardships along the way.  It makes life seem real, and their success even more real. It is a learning experience that I will never forget, and their stories will stay with me as I grow into my own businesswoman.

Why did you become a Mark rep?

I decided to become a Mark rep in high school I was working in the mall when an Avon rep approached me and thought I would be great at selling Mark—looked like I enjoyed make-up and had the perfect personality to sell. I went home and did some research online and decided to give it a try my parents gave me $20 for the starting kit and the rest is history.

What skills are you learning?

On a one-to-one level with customers I’m learning how to approach someone and encourage them—make them feel good with what products they should be wearing and give them confidence.

From a business perspective, I am learning invaluable skills like how to set up a budget every month, schedule events and plan them. Additionally, learning organizational skills and how to communicate effectively with regional managers and mentors. Networking is also key.

Definitely want to take these skills and apply them to after college when graduating. Would love to work in the beauty industry or in sales as I feel passionate about both.

About how much are you earning per month?

Depends on the month and what kind of events I have going on. Between $100-$200 per month on average.

I do many events with my club softball team. Planning events with mom’s friends/h.s. sister TBD with friends. She has turned two of her best customers in reps.
