Since Valentine’s day is two weeks away, it’s the perfect time to build up your hair’s strength so it will be more resistant to damage. Daily wear and tear (combing and brushing) is enough to split ends, without even considering what heat is doing to your hair.I know you goddesses are going to reach for the heat tools on V-day like you have been doing for weeks. While you have the time, try reducing the amount of heat you use. This week and next week should be devoted to preventing further damage and trying a strengthening/moisturizing regimen to whip your hair into sexy heartbreaking shape!
Below are products and advice tailored to your specific hair type:
Fine hair-
Joico Silk Result Conditioner– This conditioner smooths the cuticle, eliminates tangles, and adds a bit of protein. Use this conditioner twice a week in lieu of your usual daily conditioner for stronger hair.
Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Milk Shampoo– The light formula won’t weigh hair down, but add a silky feel, and also strengthens. Use this treasure the week before Valentines day to prep your hair for styling.
Medium hair-
Rusk Deepshine Keratin Care Shampoo– Whether you have had a keratin treatment or not, this is the shine master! Use this great shampoo in place of your usual in the weeks building up to Valentine’s Day.
AG Fast Food– This leave in is so good, you can put it on right after you shampoo, no conditioner needed! It nourishes, conditions and helps protect against split ends.
Thick/Coarse hair-
Pureology Hydrate Shampoo– Thick hair with a coarse texture needs plenty of hydration since it is porous and tends to suck up more moisture than most. This shampoo gives moisture without build-up, which can make hair feel weighed down and prevents penetration of conditioner. You can use this conditioner daily, but thick or  coarse hair types should only wash their hair 3 times a week maximum.
Joico K Pak Conditioner– Use this conditioner once a week in place of your usual conditioner. And don’t even think of rinsing this out after just 1 minute, you need to keep it on for at least 15 to see results. Use a plastic cap to help it “marinate” your hair with silk enhancing goodness. African American and Biracial goddesses should leave this on for 20 minutes or more.
Joico Moisture Recovery Conditioner– Make this your new “Usual”. Trust me.
Stick to the regimen for your hair type and by Valentine’s Day you should notice more shine, and for thick hair types you’ll notice a softer, silkier texture. As for heat-free styling? Try a nice side braid or chignon to keep hair stylish and healthy until the big day. Dry shampoo can be your best friend as well, try Batiste and your hair will definitely thank you, but don’t worry about thanking me. You’re welcome!
