“A mixture of tenacity, determination and perseverance helped the two friends turn adversity into a profitable business. In 1991, a civil war in their homeland Liberia had destroyed most of the family’s personal possessions. Dennis and Tubman immigrated to the United States but the situation was not much brighter as they found themselves suddenly unemployed.
Dennis decided to use years of helping his grandmother create soaps, four generations of family recipes, and a vision to offer premium products to underserved and overlooked communities in creating his own ray of sunshine. In 1992, the two began to sell their wares along the sidewalks of 125th Street in New York City.
By their second year, Dennis and Tubman were manufacturing their products in a 3,000 square foot plant, and selling their products through a network of street vendors, convenience stores, health food shops and beauty supply retailers. In 2000, they opened their first store, Nubian Heritage, not far from the sidewalks of 125th Street where they first started.”
Nubian Heritage is a company that you can be proud to purchase products from, as you’ll be supporting hardworking individuals who use high quality ingredients, give back to the community, and have overcome much adversity. They’ve covered all your body care necessities with a diverse range of products: Bar Soap, Body Butter, Body Mist, Body Oil, Body Scrub, Body Wash, Candles, Hand Cream, Infused Shea Cream, Lip Balm, Lotion, Room Diffusers, and Gift Sets.
I had the opportunity to review a selection of Nubian Heritage products. The package I was sent included the body wash, body lotion, body mist, body oil, and lip balm – all in the Mango Butter scent. The selection of scents is as diverse as actual selection of products, and includes wonderful blends like Lavender & Wildflowers, Carrot & Pomegranate, Goat’s Milk & Chai, and several other unique combinations. However, Mango is my favorite scent pretty much ever, so I had to pick that one.
Each product is phenomenal! They include ingredients like Shea Butter, Aloe Vera, Vitamin E, Avocado Butter, Jojoba Oil, and Cocoa Butter. Those are ingredients found in the best body products, and these feel like quality. The scent is also amazing; I didn’t think it smelled much like Mango, but I did think they smelled like Orange Creamsicle… Which is just as delicious! So no disappointment there! The body wash is probably my favorite, as it left my skin super soft, clean, and lightly scented. I’ve been wearing the body mist as perfume & pairing it with the lotion after my showers to keep the delicious scent around all day.
If you’re a body product junkie, I definitely recommend checking out Nubian Heritage. I also suggest you keep Nubian Heritage in mind for your beauty loving bodies, as this these products are truly gourmet body treats… So spoil someone you love this holiday season!
