Alright babes-I have a new favorite hair color! At the end of the summer I took a plunge and went dark. No, no, I’m not talking about the tanning bed (yuck); I dyed my hair! For months previously I’d been on a quest to get it as blonde as possible, but I really needed something different. I don’t remember the original shade, but it was a caramel-y brown that didn’t really do anything for me.
Three weeks ago, I found my “it” shade. (Hopefully you remember my Clairol reviews on Degunkify and Hello Hydration, because this is another review in that series.) The people at Clairol were generous enough to send me a box of their new Natural Instincts Hair Color in Ebony Mocha, and it’s perfect!
At first I wasn’t a huge fan. My hair was tangled after washing and when wet, it looked like it hadn’t picked up evenly. Then I dried my hair and was totally wowed! What looked patchy wet was amazing variations of color (AKA natural looking high lights) after some time with the blow dryer. As for the tangly bits of my hair-that’s a problem I always have when dyeing my hair dark (something I do every few months). I don’t think it had anything to do with the brand, but rather it’s because of the actual makeup and texture of my hair.
Three weeks later and I’m still loving it. I’ve gotten TONS of compliments, my hair feels super soft, and it hasn’t faded a bit. The color says that it lasts through 28 washes, but I’ve washed my hair about ten times. No fading, no problems!
Another bonus? The awesome conditioner that comes with all of Clairol’s hair colors. In fact, it’s so great that it deserves its very own review… So stay tuned!
And I almost forgot-Natural Instincts is ammonia free, which means that it doesn’t have that horrible “hair color” smell we’ve all come to dread. Plus, it offers great hair-health benefits because it’s packed with antioxidants, as well as Vitamins C & E. So what are you waiting for? There are 34 beautiful colors, so go find yours!
