Looking for a date? Wear red! Earlier, my boyfriend linked me to a really interesting study conducted by the BBC. According to research, men shown women of equal attractiveness, but wearing different colors (red or blue), selected the red-wearers as the ones they were most interested in. Who would have thought? I mean, red has long been associated with romance and passion-but first impression attraction? You can view the entire article here.
Aside from the every sexy red lipstick, there are plenty of ways to incorporate the color into your wardrobe! Shoes, dresses, or if you’re not quite that bold-accessories! Here are some of my favorite red items.
How incredibly freakin’ cool are these?! They look expensive, right? Well, guess again! They’re the Rivington Ankle Boot from alice + olivia’s latest Payless collection. These gorgeous boots are only $48, and they’re guaranteed to turn heads! Currently, the Rivington’s are only available in a size 5 or 9.5, but I believe you can set it up so that Payless emails you when your size comes back in stock-or just hit your nearest retail location!
I’m also a big fan of this dress from Target’s Merona collection. It’s an adorable shirt dress with 3/4 sleeves, and a button down front. The best thing may be the price: this dress is only $24.99!
The length makes it very versatile. On warmer fall days, you won’t overheat-but with stockings and a sweater, you can wear it on chillier nights. I love getting so much wear out of pieces, and the low cost just makes the deal even sweeter!
Oh, and I wouldn’t advise wearing it with red pumps, but a darker, cranberry hue would compliment it nicely!
I’m really digging these chandelier style earrings! They’re from Emitations, a really cute e-boutique offering “affordable elegance.” They’re called Bery’ls Red Crystal Chandelier Earrings, and they’re currently on sale for $24.99.
They’re both eye and light catching, which will mean lots of attention and compliments for you! “Each hook back earring features a teardrop shape outline of round cut stones, with a larger round cut stone in the center. Below, three tiers hang down: the left and right tiers feature briolette drops, and the center tier features an additional round cut stone above a third briolette drop.”
Of course, my favorite way to wear this shade is lipstick! I have about a dozen red lipsticks, and then there are all the glosses…
However, my absolute favorite is MAC’s Russian Red lipstick. It’s a great blue-based red that makes my teeth look whiter and my lips look fuller. It seems to be a pretty universally flattering shade, too. At $14 a tube, every girl should have their own!
